30dayPUSH II Extended- Day 39

I decided to keep pushing.  I am going for another 30 days.

30dayPUSH II
Yesterday my older brother and I were talking about how to take my fitness to the next level.  As we were discussing it he came across the image on the left that he saved for a night like this.
This was me a month after I had moved to NYC from Phoenix, Arizona…  Not only did I feel and look sloppy, internally I was a mess as well.  I was addicted to sugar (even more than now!), drank too much and ate whatever I wanted and usually in excess.  That is clearly evident in my face and body.
The image on the left is 7 months later.  Not only do I now workout 4-6 times a week consistently, I also eat pretty clean daily and get my 7 hours of sleep each night (I cannot express HOW important that factor is.).
The changes on the outside are obvious but what I love the most is, I’m rarely hungry since I eat 4-6 meals a day, my face is almost always clear (always struggled with that before) and I rarely ever need a nap!  (I hardly drink caffeine unlike 7 months prior and when I do it’s a black or green tea.)
I’m not sure that I would have been so gun-ho about making such a dramatic change to my life overnight (Jan 2nd sitting in that SAME chair on the left to be exact.) if it weren’t for my amazing friend and fellow FitFam-er Ciara Gale!  She has inspired and touched so many people in such a short time period and we are all extremely grateful for all the hard work and time she puts into organizing the 30dayPUSHES.
So thank you C.  Thank you for being an inspiration to many, a life coach to some and a GREAT friend to me.  I love you my friend!

Everyday we are in contact with individuals and sometimes we don’t know where their motives are in relation to us.  This 30dayPUSH for me has been much more focused on mental peace and physical wellness (what’s on the inside.)  Being said, I’ve been much more observant not just to what those around me are saying, but rather the intention coupled with it.

One of my favorite speeches (religious aspect removed) is on the 3 types of friendships in life.

According to Bishop T.D Jakes, the three types of friendships are…

1.  CONFIDANTS – You have very few of them – these are people who welcome you unconditionally. They are into you whether you are up or down, right or wrong, they are in it for the long haul. You can share anything with them. Having a good confidant is one of the keys that unlock the Kingdom.

These are people who you can share your deepest and darkest inner thoughts with, who won’t judge you but will feed you instead of draining you.

Have you ever had relationships where the person was emotionally immature and consistently draining you? It’s okay to help others but you must have someone who feeds you so you can feed someone else. They will confront you; they’ll get in your business and get in your face and tell you when you are wrong BUT will also come back and be by your side no matter what. They will never leave.

2.  CONSTITUENTS - They are not into you but are into what you are FOR. They are for what you are for. As long as you are for what they are for they will be with you but never think they are for you. If they meet someone else that will meet their agenda they will hook up with them and leave you. Don’t mistake a constituent for a confidant. By the time you fall in love or are connected with them in a relationship, they will hook up with someone else and break your heart, leaving you wondering, “I thought our relationship was deeper than that.”

3.  COMRADES - These are not for you nor are they for what you are for. They are just against what you are against. They are strange bedfellows. They are the enemy of your enemy who will team up with you to help you fight a greater enemy. They will only be with you until the victory is accomplished.

They are like scaffolding that is there until the building is built but is later removed because the building is built. Don’t be upset when they leave. They were not supposed to be there anyway. Don’t tell your dream to your constituents they will try to fulfill the dream without you. Don’t tell your dream to your comrades because they will not support you because they are not for you in the first place.

What do say you?  I thought this was an interesting breakdown even as I felt some things were missing.

Strive to keep the mind, body and soul clean and happiness is inevitable.

30dayPUSH: Day 15

Ok, so I haven’t been posting much and this weekend is my reason why.

This weekend I am shooting for Barry’s Bootcamp, a rapidly growing international fitness and wellness company!  Yesterday I had a kickass team of models comprised of Barry’s Bootcamp trainers and fitness models from LA and NYC!  (The images above are some behind the scene’s Instagram shots— FIY you can find me on IG and Twitter at @etgPhotography)

With this project a lot of pre planning and organization was involved which has been consuming my time but not only is this project exciting and fun but also something I LOVE.

If anyone of my FitFam’ers are in NY anytime soon I suggest taking a class!  Such an intense workout!  Their New York location is on 20th Street between 7th & 8th Avenue!

Keep up all the hard work everyone!  You are all looking beautiful!  AND don’t forget to donate to Ciara for all the hard work she puts in for each and every one of us!

30dayPUSH: Day 3
Today is Hamstrings/Quads/Calves and Cardio
I am splitting my lifts into 3 days with 1 day rest.  (Legs,  Chest/Biceps/Triceps,  and Back/Shoulders— alternating abs every other day.)

I am a bit thick right now but I am in a MUCH better position at Day3 than I was in January’s 30dayPUSH.
I want to lean out, get control over my sweet tooth, quit “inhaling herbs” and learn how to cook a few more things rather than just eating chicken and veggies 5 times a day.
I am so excited to see everyone’s progress!  Keep up the hard work FitFam!

Today was…difficult.  For whatever reason I was just not able to keep up in the gym.  I managed to get through the workout but I didn’t stick around for the cardio.  Tisk Tisk….
Anyways, this is breakfast. (minus the flaxseeds and a banana.)  I will be doing my best to update this blog with progress images.  Also, if anyone has any recipes they love, message me them!
